The United States Marine Corps War Memorial, (also known as the Iwo Jima Memorial) is a statue that overlooks the Potomac River at the entrance to Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. It has been placed there in dedication to all Marines who have given their lives in defense of their country. Its design was inspired by the most famous and iconic war-time photo ever taken, that of the flag-raising atop Mount Suribachi during World War II in the Battle of Iwo Jima in 1945 by the Pulitzer Prize winning photographer Joe Rosenthal. The Marines in the photo are Sargeant Michael Strank, Corporal Harlon Block, PFC Franklin Sousley, PFC Rene Gagnon, PFC Ira Hayes, and PHM2 John Bradley (U.S. Navy Corpsman). Strank, Block, and Sousley did not survive the battle.
Work on the project was authorized by Congress in 1947 and work began on the cast bronze memorial in 1951 and was dedicated by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on November 10, 1954 which was the 179th anniversary of the Marine Corps. President John F. Kennedy issued a proclamation in 1961 stating that an American flag would be displayed onsite 24 hours a day. The memorial was sculpted by Felix de Weldon and designed by Horace W. Peaslee. The cost of construction was $850,000 and the debt was covered entirely by donations, of which 96 percent came from the Marines themselves.
Felix de Weldon was born in Austria on April 12, 1907 and died on June 3, 2003 in Woodstock, Virginia and was buried in Arlington National Cemetary. He worked on the memorial from 1945 to 1954 paying particular attention to every detail. The uniforms, helmets, boots were all recreated accurately. The 3 survivors of the battle modeled their faces in clay and photos were collected from the 3 who did not survive the battle and were later used in the modeling and sculpting of their faces. The casting of the bronze took almost 3 years to complete. Once sculpted in plaster, it was then disassembled and shipped to Brooklyn, NY to be cast in bronze. There, the 108 parts would be cast, cleaned, finished, chased, then ultimately shipped back to be bolted and welded together.
The inscription on the statue reads, "Uncommon valor was a virtue" a tribute by Admiral Chester Nimitz, and another reads, "In honor and memory of the men of the United States Marine Corps who have given their lives to their country since 10 November 1775". Also inscribed are the names of the campaigns that the Marines have been involved in since 1775. The figures are 32 feet tall and the flagpole measures 60 feet. The base is made from 700 tons of concrete and 389 tons of black Swedish granite. At 78 feet above the ground, the memorial ranks among the largest bronze statues in the world.
The memorial is located at 14th Street North - Arlington, Virginia between Route 50 and the Arlington National Cemetery, open daily, 24 hours. There is a parade hosted by the Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon and a Music In Motion performance by the Marine Drum and Bugle Corps from May through August on Tuesdays from 7:00 to 8:30 pm.

thank uDo you know anything about Washington? Well, if you haven’t you should read this report because it talks about all kinds of information! There are many interesting facts about Washington. For example, Washington is the only state that is named after a president. Washington is named after Washington because George Washington was the first United States president. Another reason is how much money Washington makes. Washington’s agriculture only gets 3% of the money! Last of all, Washington’s state flag, and state seal have some interesting facts. One reason, the state flag, and the state seal are identical to each other. The flag has a picture of George Washington. According to the state law, Washington’s official flag shall be of dark green.

QUESTION:
where is the Justice Department located in Washington D.C.?
PRESS RELEASEJOSEPH MICHAEL HOUSTOUN WILL BE: “Hitching-A-Right to Washington”
TO HIS NATION’S CAPITOL THIS MEMORIAL DAY, WITH A CONSORTED FOCUS SEEKING NOTHING BUT JUSTICE FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMANT OF JUSTICE FOR THE PERSONAL VIOLATION AND DECIMATION OF MY ENTIRE LIFE, DUE TO THE:PRESIDENT BUSH TOP SECRET N.S.A. SPY PROGRAM
My name is Joseph Houstoun, I, now, after much agonizing find it profoundly and urgently necessary, to go public with my true torture story that spans out over the past 4.5 years to present. A story unlike any other perhaps in our nation’s history, one of torture, abuse and one that has deprived me of every single “Right of Citizenship” afforded to me under Constitution of the United States of America. This incredible story starts after I personally and painstakingly found; The President Bush Top Secret N.S.A. SPY PROGRAM on my business/home computers. Sadly I had to discover this hidden cyber system, after my 8 years of archived professional and personal information was destroyed. That’s when they slowly started to decimate, torture and destroyed my entire professional, personal and family life. Today, I’m left with nothing, in a material or economic sense, owing thousands to those who faithfully assisted me through it all, and deprived of the ability to earn an income.
To the point; From at what I first viewed as my Countries; National Security Agency calling on me to serve my much beloved country once again: To the realization now, that from day one in July of 2004 in it's totality, it was nothing short of what I think can only best be described as: “One Huge Deception of Patriotic Faith” all done with the intent to recruit me, I thought ever so incredibly proudly to become an N.S.A. Agent". Shortly there after, I was told as much I was not only dealing with the N.S.A. but as well the C.I.A.
This was for certain an extremely well, Pre- Planned, Masterfully Crafted, long thought-out method to capture this patriot by hook-line and sinker into service. So as directed, through this incredibly deceptive recruitment approach, I and for such a long period of “blind faith time”, preformed thousands of task, after I accepted the role. It is of my opinion, that my personal government abuse story will very likely be, the missing voice/ link, that brings the rule of law and judicial accountability to the previous Administration's; D.O.J.’S, ill advised, extremely arrogant, lawless, unconstitutional and unbridled thugs.
In conclusion, I am going to take this public one way or the other, and I am hereby offering to the media at large, the opportunity to break open a story that WILL dwarf the N.S.A. Illegal Wiretapping/ Spy Story, that I’m sure you know, exposed the unconstitutional and lawless Wire-tapping Program that President Bush ordered after 9-11.
I will start my “Hitch-A-Right to Washington” Program to provide this unimaginable, American True Story personally to every single person I have the pleasure to meet along the way, towards the great State of Washington. I shall depart this small quiet lakeside town in the heart of the Great State of Florida, where I recently was forced to take refuge, after loosing it all, as an Innocent U.S.of A. Army, Veteran.
If you would like to get in contact with me and get the STORY OF THE DECADE, simply look for the guy “thumbing-it” as I walk down Florida State, Hwy. 19 wearing all black clothing, with the colors of the U.S. Flag and or the neon colored sign attached to my suit case with the phrase clearly visible from a distance, that states: “NSA SPY VICTIM”. I will be starting my lengthy journey to D.C. with my final destination being the: The Very First Step of the United States Depart of Justice. Once there, I will “Bitch-A-Tent” and will not leave until; I receive “Good ‘Old American Justice” (get arrested
, by receiving my due compensation that, damn sure better be afforded unto myself, through My Constitutional Protection as Written, Signed and Rarely Amended. i.e. My Bill of Rights. My intent you ask? As to not let down: My Forefathers, All The Dead U.S. Service Veterans (especially their Heroic Families) and all the other Great American Men/Women, that possessed a clear conscious, especially those that God Blessed with the all illusive, Commonsense and Wisdom, to Washington D.C. on that “Day of Freedom for All”.
Note: The Constitution I speak of just happens to be, the same one that my Greatest of Grandfathers, he was a Delegate to the Continental Congress for the State of Georgia from 1784 through 1786, and to the United States Constitutional Convention in 1787. Assisting in the Construction and the Enactment of:

QUESTION:
How would you feel if Canada and America became one country?
How would you feel if Canada and America became one country?
I got an assignment in history class to read this story and answers questions on it. The story was about the two countries becoming one. But we weren't a joint name, and they wasn't a flag that represented both our countries it was all American. Their president was speaking, while lowering our flag and putting up theirs. Our flag was to be stored in the Washington museum. They sang the Canadian national anthem for the last time then sang the American one. Also Quebec was their own Republic. How do you feel about our county joining the United States?-
ANSWER:
personally, i would strongly dislike that!! and i know a lot of people that would agree. There seems to be such tension, competetion and conflict between the US and canada and i think it would lead to conflict. i also believe it would be bad for our economy. it would be unfortunate because canada is a very different and seperate country from the states. canada is proud of many things and sharing that pride with the states just wouldnt happen! plus no offense americans but canada doesnt want to be included in things like, being such high air polluters!!! yikkes, no thanks =)

QUESTION:
Can you name this story and give me feedback?
Hi my name is Peyton rushing im 15 and in the 8th grade. I have a older brother named Zachariah. He’s 17 in the 12th grade. My mom is a crack-headed prostitute and my dad is working to make ends meet as a McDonald’s manager so we always have enough to eat. My brother goes to a private school because of his football scholarship. All the girls love him because he is light skinned, tall, muscular with a 6 pack, has waves, and is the captain of the football team. If they look past his appearance they would see a 17 year old doesn’t know a lick but, a sweet and kind big brother. Unlike my 5 year old brother syre. On the other hand go to one schools in the state; Patrick khamani jr. high. It’s full of ghetto, fake, and stupid kids, unfortunately I only have 2 friends; Dior and Carmen, but there the best besfrineds to have. I have a boyfriend named Robert. He has braids, money and sagging pants. As he walks up and says ‘hey mamacita”, and grabs my butt. He has a lot of groupies. So every girl is after him. They say “hey bobby” and “aloha papa”. I don’t pay attention to it because I know im going to get more aggravated. Bobby said if I ever think about breaking up with him he will beat me and my mom. Im walking into biology and as I do I see the fakes. Their names are alexia and mar’sha. They try to trip me when I walk in. I get called “freckle face” and “Dior lover”. Their whole clique laughs when I bump into the teacher and drop my books. I pick them up and run to my friends in the back of throom to see my friends. They always make me feel better. Dior is tall, smart, funny, and Hawaiian. He comes from the hood like me but has all his family. Carmen is short, country, rich and has braces. She is like my sister. I tell her everything. In biology my teacher, Mr. Washington talks about three different things every class. Today he is talking about how babies are born, eyeballs, and farts. He stops and says, “Ms. Rushing, do you know where babies come from.’ I say the only thing I know from TV. ‘When a man and a woman love each other very…..” he say “is that all.” I reply with a “yes.” “Well Ms. rushing you can write a 9 page paper on teen pregnancy. Alexia and mar’sha’ clique started laughing. Carmen slaps he hand to her face. Dior leans over and says “I will come over and help you.” I pretend to drop and pencil and laughed like crazy. Then finally the bell ringed. As we were leaving class I see Bobby slobbing down on selena and I see alxia whispering in dior’s ear and rubbing on his chest. I run to the bathroom with tears running down my face. Carmen is running behind me. When I run into the bathroom I see kill peyton, peyton the punk, I hate peyton, and other stuff that makes me cry even more. Carmen run’s in and says its going to be ok and calms me down. Next is swim class. It may be they only class I really hate other then biology. Mrs.Malone our gym teacher lets us change in her office after what happen last year. To make a long story short they got our clothes and put them on a flag pole. We went home that day on the bus in our bathing suits and almost got namonea. In swim we had to get with partners. Unfortunately my partner was mar’sha. I wanted to be partnered with dior or Carmen. Mar’sha told me Alexia was going to the graduation dance with Dior and that she was going to the dance with Bobby. We were playing seesaw and when it was my turn to go into the water Mar’sha was kicking me in my face and I nearly drowned. Dior saw me and pick me up out the water. Princeton shouted “She needs CPR!” Under his breathe Dior said “Here we go.” Alexia screamed “Let her die.” This wouldn’t technically count as my first kiss. Carmen said when Dior was done with the CPR I was smiling with a bloody nose. After swim was lunch. We get to leave school for this. We walked 2 blocks to the nearest McDonald’s.

Carmen said when Dior was done with the CPR I was smiling with a bloody nose. After swim was lunch. We get to leave school for this. We walked 2 blocks to the nearest McDonald’s were my dad worked. I ordered fries, salad, and a drink because I wasn’t that hungry, Carmen ordered a kids meal with chocolate milk, and Dior ordered just about everything on the menu. I told Carmen “He thinks he is king.” Carmen was being smart and said “King Dior and Queen Peyton.” My brother Zachariah was there with his girlfriend Diamond, who happens to be Alexa’s sister. Unlike Alexa Diamond isn’t messy or fake. Zachariah said “What’s up man.” to Dior and asked “Are you dating my baby sister?” I kicked him real hard. I know it hurted because he turned red. I realized if we didn’t leave now we would be late getting back to school. I kissed my brother on the check and said “Ice that leg.” I kissed my dad bye and asked “Can Dior come over?” He said “yes.” and that he loved me. When we got back to school we had 4 subjects left: Algebra, history, language, and technology. Finally school was over and I hadn’t seen Alexa, Mar’sha, or their clique since swim class. When I thought the ghost clear Alexa comes and knocks the books out of my hands and says “Have a good day Ms. Wanna be Clayton.” Clayton was Dior’s last name.
When I got to my locker the last person I wanted to see was there. Bobby. He asked “Shawty, why ain’t you let me roll with you to Mickey D’s. I said because you were to busy down Selena’s throat. He said “She giving it up.” I said “That’s how you judge a girl, by how much sex she is giving you.” He replied “If I ain’t getting any then im not commented.” I screamed real loud, “Robert “Bobby” Jaleel James Jenkins Jr. we are over.” He said, ‘Fine I can find another girl to have a Bobby jr. with.” I slammed my locker and walked away. Dior came by and I asked, “Are you still helping me with my homework?’ He said ‘YEAH.” With his pretty boy smile. We had to leave Carmen because she had volleyball practice. When we got to my house dad laid down 3 rules; Rule number 1: Keep all doors except front door open, rule number 2: no loud music, and rule number 3: please remember to get Syre off the bus. I said “OK.” Dior put his books on the table while I got the popcorn and soda. I picked up the remo
remote and turned it to the health channel. 10 minutes into the show Dior asked “Where is the bathroom?” I said “Down the hall on the right.” When Syre came I got him from the bus. After 15 minutes I went to go check on Dior. He was in my room looking at my baby pictures. “You were pretty as a baby.” said Dior. “and you look even prettier know.” He added I blushed. He grabbed me softly by the chin and put his lips against mine. He started to take off his shirt but I stopped him and led him to the door. “Im sorry if I made you uncomfortable.” He said “You didn’t, I was just a little nervous that’s all.” I said. “Was that your first kiss?” asked Dior. I nodded my head. “Then im happy to say I got Peyton Rushing’s first kiss.” Said Dior. “Shut up!” I said laughing. “Bye Mrs. Clayton.” Said Dior. As soon as he left I called Carmen. Luckily she was done with volleyball practice. I told her everything from dad’s rules to our kiss.
I wasn’t worried about Bobby, Alexa, Mar’sha, or anybody else. When Alexa sees me and Dior she is going to be pissed. When I got my little brother off the bus he told me he was going to be a rapper and to call him Syre So Breezy. He made his first rap. “Ok them rap Syre So Breezy.” I said
“Dior and Peyton weren’t kissing in a tree they were kissing in the house of the family lips against lips he was feeling on her hips he was trynna go down Peyton bought him back up he tried to lift up his shirt Peyton said cut.”
My jaw dropped. I realized Syre saw me and Dior kiss. He said, “I made my first rap and im going to show daddy.” I said, “If you show dad im going to get in trouble.” “How.” said Syre. “I wasn’t supposed to be kissing I was supposed to be doing homework.” I said “and” said Syre. “If Zachariah or dad finds out im going to get in trouble.” “So what’ in it for me.’ Said Syre. “I will give you 4 candy bars and I will let you get a Mohawk. “ I said “Ok” Syre said in a hurry.
. Today when I went back to school I greeted Dior with a hug and I kiss. He said, “Hi Mrs. Clayton.” As we walk down the hall I see Alexa. When she sees me and Dior walking down the hall see says, “So this is your choice Dior, you choose this chick over me, she’s still a virgin.” Dior tells Alexa to shut up, grabs her by
Her arm and takes her to the other end of the hallway. When they come back Alexa apologizes and walks away. When we were in biology we passed notes, in swim classes drool was all over my face when I saw his 6 pack body go in the water. We stayed at school for lunch. We had spaghetti and to make a long story short we kissed again. In algebra I wrote P+D=L4E. In history I wrote everything we did together. In language I wrote a poem about me and Dior and in technology I made a flyer with our pictures on it. When school was over the last person I wanted to see was at my locker., Bobby. When I got there he said, “ Shawty why you switching on me.”
I’m not switching on you, yesterday I told you it was over.” “I thought you was playing girly.” He said. “Does it look like im playing?’ Isaid with an attitude.Dior came up, kissed me, and said lets go and carried my book bag. Carmen walked up and said, “Hi Mr. and Mrs. Clayton.” She asked could we go to the movies with her and Princeton this weekend.

QUESTION:
What is your opinion Utah Latinos plan to march to state Capitol threaten no-buy days payroll and sales taxes?
Utah Latinos plan to rally March 21 to coincide with a plan by activists across the nation to descend on Washington D.C. to urge federal action on immigration reform.Several area Latino groups met Saturday at Centro Civico Mexicano to measure support for the march, after hearing about the national effort. They agreed to begin at noon March 21 and march from the Salt Lake City & County Building to the state Capitol.
"We need to show Utah also demands to be part of immigration reform," said Raul Lopez-Varga, of the Utah Mexican Club Federation, who led the event along with Proyecto Latino Director Tony Yapias.
The nearly 250 people who attended the Saturday meeting want Utah to be part of national efforts to call for reform through marches set for March 21 and May 1. Many have memories of the May 2006 rally for immigration reform in which thousands descended on downtown Salt Lake City.
Participants of the meeting agreed to name their movement to mobilize "Utahns for Immigration Reform Coalition."
Saturday's meeting was broadcast on AM 1550 radio. Though it was in Spanish, participants urged other immigrant communities to get involved. Britons, Canadians, Koreans and others want change, too, said Epifanio Arciniega of Taylorsville, "It's not just Hispanics who are illegal."
As with the march four years ago, people are encouraged to wear white, carry the American flag and hold signs in English. And many took the forum as a chance to tell those in attendance about English-as-a-second-language classes, and other volunteer opportunities.
Gladys Aguilera, of Brigham City, told participants to educate themselves as best they can and to push their children to learn.
"I believe that's why we came here, to give the most we can to this country -- that we're not the trash they think we are," Aguilera said.
Other audience members suggested no-buy days or strikes to showcase the importance of immigrants' payroll and sales taxes.
"The economy is what hurts Americans the most," said Jose Gutierrez of Salt Lake City, emphasizing the need to highlight the contributions immigrants make to their local communities.
Apart from calling for federal immigration reform, Yapias told the crowd to contact their representatives at the Utah Legislature to voice their concerns over SB251.
The bill would require Utah companies with more than 15 employees to use the E-Verify system to check a worker's legal immigrant status. The legislation, written by Sen. Chris Buttars, R-West Jordan, cleared the Senate March 5 and will go before the House next.
Yapias said he supports using E-Verify only as part of federal "comprehensive" immigration reform.

QUESTION:
Army soldier spat on by religious group at airport in washington.?
I have been trying left and right to find this article online, but alas I could only find it in my sunday paper so I will write a portion word for word, and I would like everyone's opinions."Tuesday afternoon, at an international terminal for a returning european flight back to Washington D.C a United states Army Soldier found a less then welcome gathering. Eye witnesses claim that a group of 4 so-called Born again christians based out of D.C were at the terminal waiting for a family member to arrive home, when they noticed the wounded soldier. The American Soldier, who's name was asked to be concealed for privacy concerns, suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, and was separated from his medical leave unit in a lay over, and forced onto a civilian flight back to the states. Though not in medical danger, he still walked with a crutch and a limp as he carried an american flag folded under one arm, his back pack on his other shoulder. Upon seeing the soldier, the group of men and one women walked up and in passing by, spat on the man's uniform and made insulting comments regarding the damnation of the man to hell, and the likes..."
If I find the article I will add the link as an edit. But I would love for anyone on Y/A to please find some excuse for this sort of behavior... because I am beside myself.

ANSWER:
There is no excuse for that kind of vileness. They think they are making some sort of stand or protest for their faith, when in actual fact they just make themselves look bad. They preach the love of Jesus Christ, so would do well to remember that Jesus was loving to ALL including the sinners (even Judas Iscariot who would ultimately betray him, which Jesus KNEW would happen) and would never condone such appalling behaviour to a fellow human being.
They are brainwashed hypocrites.

QUESTION:
Could someone help with the meaning of some of the verses in this Bright Eyes song?
The song is yet unreleased "Roosevelt Room" and is a political song against the Bush administration. As an englishman i do understand the majority of the lyrics but there are some aspects i don't quite get.Hey there, son of Adam
Hey there, daughter of Eve
Help me sing this tear gas riot song
To some fresh faced police
They won't even know what hit them
When they lift their Roman shades
When the riot song comes pouring in
On a brand new dayNow you who dam the river
You could change a mountain's name
First we marched to rally back
Now we're taking down Washington state
In death there’s a consolation
You know only hate and rage
You paid a dowry for your child's rights
Now she's living like a slaveA prayer came down the wire
And it was all in the enemy’s code
You couldn't figure out what mercy meant
So you did like you were told
When they finally sent the doctors
Once the fireball went out
There was nothing left but the cockroaches
In a movie with no soundWhat good, what good are you?
With your cynical flag and your Roosevelt room
What good, what good are you?
With your Cherokee trail and your unattended tombYeah, go ask Hunter Thompson
Yeah, go ask Hemingway's ghost
It all catches up with you
Once you get just a little too old
Take a hard look in the mirror
It's a thing that you did not see
The shadow's long but the day is young
It just wasn't meant to beThere's no blankets for the winter
There's no oil in the lamp
And I'd like to write my congressman
But I can't afford the stamp
You want me to pay my taxes
So you can propagate your lie
While there's barefoot dudes down in New Orleans
Looking like they're going to dieYeah, you who quote the legends
You who poisoned all of my dreams
You pinned all of the medals on
All those boys from Omaha Beach
Hope they haven't got too lazy
I know you like your apple pie
But the working poor you've been pissing on
Are doing double shifts tonightWhat good, what good are you?
With your cynical flag and your Roosevelt room
What good, what good are you?
With your Cherokee trail and your unattended tombThe bits i would like help with are the last two lines of verse 2, all of verse 3 ("...prayer came down the wire" onwards) and verse 4 ("...Hunter Thompson" onwards) and the last line of the chorus ("...cherokee trail..." onwards)

ANSWER:
Well, first of all, I don't think this is solely about the Bush administration. It seems as if he is going through several generations of presidencies and criticized how they handled wars and other tragedies of their time. That second verse seems to be about how we've (Americans, *sigh*) have gone through and treated other cultures like trash. This could relate to many circumstances as this has happened numerous times unfortunately, but I believe this is probably most specifically about when everyone was immigrating here to America in the 1910s, 1920s, through Ellis Island.
"You paid a dowry for your child's rights
Now she's living like a slave"
Those lines just say how their ancestors paid the price for them to have a bright, hopeful future in the New Land, but once they got here we changed their names ("You could change a mountain's name") and treated them like slaves. The third verse seems to be about World War II, although I can't tell for sure as it is just all over the place. The fireball is obviously the atomic bomb we dropped on Hiroshima. And perhaps the first four lines are about some event where there was a miscommunication or false information given, leading us to choose the wrong side or something like that. I'm sorry I can't be of more help on this verse.
Now verse four. Both Hemingway and Thompson died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Their writing talked about the government in a negative view, but the thing is they didn't really express that we should take action, more that we should escape, run away; which is perhaps what the line "It all catches up with you" is about.
"With your Cherokee trail and your unattended tomb"
The Cherokee Trail was used in the mid to late 1800s to send native Americans to reservations. Along this long travel many native Americans died, just because it was such a long journey. But I believe he mentioned this because it was actually the whites who sent the natives long the trail, so they could be blamed for the deaths.
And the unattended tomb refers to Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, which is a symbolic grave for all those Americans soldiers who fought and died in a war and their bodies were found but unable to be identified. Here's the links to some pages I found helpful, in case you want to adventure even deeper into this:

QUESTION:
Who do you think our legal system is designed to protect?
The legal system is referred to as the"Criminal" justice system for a good reason, justice for the criminals, the victims be damned. I for one am sick of hearing about career criminals being allowed to plead to a single charge because they are willing to admit to dozens of others just so there is a conviction on record. My stand is simple, three strikes you are out is just a name, we need to actually implement and enforce the law to it's fullest. Every time I hear of a rapist, robber, burglar or worst of all a child molester getting away scot free because of a technical error by the cops or jail or prosecutor or their own defense attorney or their 3rd grade teacher, or because they had a bad childhood, and so on and so on it sickens me.So here is my solution; Washington State may soon be closing the McNeil Island Penitentiary because of budget issues. We are missing a perfect opportunity if we as law abiding citizens let that Governor in Washington do that. Instead it should be converted to a self sustaining prison with no guards. Just hundreds of three strike felons and one strike child molester inmates, some cows, some crops, some farming training and let them live out their sentences as best they can. If an inmate survives say a ten year sentence for child molestation, they are free, no parole, no strings. What happens to them on that island is payback for all the victims left in their wake.
I do not believe for one minute that a serial killer, serial rapist or even a first time child molester can be rehabilitated. Sure, they can be taught what to say to get out of prison early, they learn the buzz words parole boards and judges like to hear and how to play the game, as well as what to do to avoid another prison sentence, but that is the extent of it.
Wesley Alan Dodd was a convicted child molester and murderer. He asked that no one (ACLU) interfere with his execution because he KNEW he would re-offend and did not want to ruin another child's life. He had to fight hard to ensure his legal sentence of death was actually carried out. It was unbelievable, all those do-gooders telling him that they knew what was best, and that the death penalty was wrong, and that he could be "fixed". He had to go back to court several times to keep various entities from obtaining a stay of execution. It may have taken him a lifetime, but he finally figured out he was not fixable and that he was a danger to society, and deadly to children. I have more respect for him for standing up and waving that big red flag than the ACLU.
My favorite Sheriff is in Arizona who makes some inmates sleep in tents and wear pink jail clothes. His reasoning is simple, if the troops in the war can live in the heat of the desert so can they. As far as the pink underwear and overalls he says it is because they are much more easily identifiable that way, who knows why except him, who cares, they are not mistreated, but they are treated like they should be, as inmates, not guests.
In places like Singapore, where you get severe punishment right at the first conviction their recidivism rate is extremely low compared to the United States for example, where defense attorneys are allowed to "infer" that a rape victim had it coming because of how they dressed that night.
So what do you think, is this too radical or are you sick of seeing victims becoming victims of the poorly written and even more poorly administered criminal laws. If the Governor needs to save money to keep that prison open long enough to convert it, then cut all elected officials salaries in half for one year and seek donations. Once it is up and running, it would be basically a no cost operation. Barbaric, I don't think so.
So what do you think

QUESTION:
I am a 46 year young and I barley begun my story. Is it good?
My neighbor Letty drove me to school. She volunteered to take me. I thought I would have gotten earlier today if I went to her but I was wrong. School started at 7:30 a.m. I checked the car clock. It was 7:47 a.m. Great, I was going to be late for the first day of school. I woke up at 5:00 a.m in the morning so I can shower, get dressed and get early to school.
I wore a long sleeve shirt a big eyeball in the middle. My jeans were kind of nice, I guess. I wore the same shoes I wore last year. They weren’t the nicest cloths but they were the nicest cloths I owned.
Letty drove in silence, so did I. It wasn’t uncomfortable; it’s just that Letty wasn’t a woman of many words.
I tapped my fingers on my legs of desperation. I wanted her to notice because she was the slowest driver I’ve ever seen. I wanted to get there now! I also wanted to yell at her that she was a slow turtle and that she was the slowest driver I’ve ever met.
It was a cloudy day. I lived in a small town called Tieton, which was in Washington State. Washington is a really rainy place, but Tieton was on the south of Washington, so it really didn’t rain much like in Seattle. There were many mountains in there with a whole bunch of pine trees. It seemed like it was going to rain today. It was no big news. It rained about one hundred times a year.
I saw the school flag through the hills. The time was 8:02 a.m. Dam, I was going to be pretty late.
When Letty parked her car, I saw Monica standing besides the school building with one hand on her hip. What was she doing there?
I hopped off quickly.
“Thanks Letty” I thanked her while I closed the door.
She just nodded and left. Like I said, she wasn’t a woman of many words.
When Monica saw me, she put her arms in the in the air and let them drop. It was like if she was asking me what was the matter.
I walked to her while she walked to me.
“What took you so long?” She did the arm thing again. “Ive had been waiting for you for a whole hour!”
“Well why’d you do it?” I snapped at her.
“Come on, let’s go!” She grabbed my arm started pulling me inside.
“What part did you get?”
“D, what about you?”
“Dam, B.”
When we got to the office she gave us the forms and headed to the classes.
She headed to Geography while I headed to math.
Ugh! Math was one of my worst subjects.
When I got to math, Mr. Trumpetteer told me why I was late.
“I forgot to put up my alarm, sorry.” I lied
All the spots were taken, except one. There was a new kid sitting there.
There were only tables by two in this school. So I had sat alone with that new kid.
While Mr. Trumpetteer talked about math, I looked up to see his face.
He was beautiful. He had chocolaty eyes and hair. His eyes sparkled like the stars at night. His perfect reddish lips made you want to kiss him (But I wouldn’t). He was tall and handsome. He reminded me of a guy from a shaving-cream commercial. His clothes were okay. They weren’t the best but with him wearing them, they looked like designer clothes.
He noticed me looking at him. I turned around quickly. I was blushing.
I usually blush, except for this time. I mean, I was gazing up at him dreamily.
I wanted to ask him his name; when class was over.
He seemed to pay attention to Mr. Trumpetteer talking. His sparkling eyes were observing to his talk.
I felt awkward sitting with the new most handsome guy in the whole school.
What if( just what if) when its time for being partners in math, we talk and have fun, and we end up liking each other? No, I didn’t want that to happen. It’s just that I’ve never liked someone before (I meant by romance). And what if I would have liked him? Or would he like Selene?
Selene was a 10th grader (Like me). She wasn’t blonde, mean, and popular and who likes to go out with a lot of boys like you see in movies.
She was very nice, brown long hair and she wasn’t going out with a guy at that time. Maybe (Just maybe) he would be enchanted by-
“Amy?” Mr. Trumpetteer asked me.
Oh no. I was too busy thinking about the guy next to me that I didn’t pay attention to Mr. Trumpetteer.
“What?” I asked
“Amy did you pay attention?” He asked in a stern voice.
“Yes.”
“Then what is it”
I felt my face getting red.
“True.” I heard a whisper next to me.
“True.” I said what the guy next to me said.
“Good.” Then he went on his math speech.
I wanted to tell him thanks for what he did.
When class was over, lots of kids hurried to him to know more about him. I wanted to know too, so I pretended to take notes on my notebook on my desk while they asked him.
“I’m Terri Wisdom.” I heard his beautiful voice say.
“And where do you come from?” Taylor McLean said.
“I come from Portland, Oregon.” Terri said.
Terri came from big, cool, green Portland to come in live in boring, small (Tieton was also green) Tieton.
I’ve been to Portland before. It’s really cool. It’s not dirty, busy and rainy like Seattle.
“Do you like i

ANSWER:
Is it good? Well, let me break it down and give you my opinion on each aspect of your writing...1. Grammar
Try not to use the same pattern of words in too quick a succession. For instance if you just used the word "but" and want to convey the same meaning again try using the word "however".
There also happen to be a few inconsistencies with your tenses. Remember, if it's past tense keep it past tense, if it's present tense keep it present tense.
Room for improvement.
2. Description
Remember to inform the reader what's going on as things happen, one moment the main character was getting out of bed and next thing I knew they were in a car with their neighbor. Try to move the story so that things transition smoothly from one background to the next.
Room for improvement.
3. Writing Style
When a writer begins a new story one of the most important first decisions is always "Will I write this first-person, or third-person?" Try not to switch in and out of the two, this is something you must try to avoid doing.
Try not to tediously begin the sentences you start with the same word repeatedly, I for one noticed a few clusters of sentences that began with the word "I".
A LOT of room for improvement.

QUESTION:
Was the so called TEA fiasco a KKK march on Washington?
Using the excuse about Obama's health-care proposal, countless millions went to a lynch mob gathering. The signs did not speak against Obama's policies. They were the same as "WHITE SUPREMACISTS." I saw a dummy hanging by a noose. I saw Obama's face painted as if he is a minstrel man. I read signs that said "death to Obama" and that he should have been buried with Kennedy. It was utterly shocking! If it was not about RACE, why haven't we seen this with Bush who killed thousands of innocent folk and are still dying? All the world hated Bush, not just Arabs. Clinton revealed sensitive information concerning our nuclear plants to China., and Little to nothing was said. No one dared carry a sign suggesting death to Clinton or Bush, for that would have been a threat to homeland security. That South Carolina redneck, Wilson, did the same as his cohorts outside the White-house. The GOP are double-wide trailer living idiots!! Hannity is self righteous imperial wizard who almost had a conniption when Obama was leading in the polls. These folk are pathetic! I saw one woman break down when she heard Obama was going speak to the kids. I was really embarrassed for this moron! Thank God for President Carter who spoke up on the issue. I have never seen so much anti-black statements in the name of Obama. I guess their inner "Jim Crow" is coming out. GOP are a lily white spremacist group. They will go and get a few token blacks and hispanics and put the out front for their cause. The GOP are mostly Southern Baptists who for decades have lynched blacks then go to church and sing Amazing Grace. Like Huckabee, they pretended to be godly saints but are demons in Sheep Clothing. Huckabee supposes to be preacher but went to South Carolina and stated that "If anyone asks me to remove the confederate flag from the capitol, I will tell them where to stick it!" First of all, no one asked or referenced the flag. He was just letting all the other Bubbas and Sally Sues know that his white sheets were at home. I watch these clowns and just turn my head. This is not about Obama's stand, it is about his race. Get over it, he is not going anywhere! He is not going to resign just because you all want air head Palin who quits in mid stream and cannot locate her butt without directions. This country is headed for a massive riot. It will not be a white only demonstration. White racists are setting up for the biggest onslaught of retaliation since the inception of this country. You see the same signs that I see and do not care. Good, do not pretend to care when you smell smoke! Even as children we learned that for every ACTION there is a REACTION. Do you really want someone to kill him and give whites peace of mind? Do you really think it would simply die out in just a few days or weeks? It would be race haters (not terrorists) that brings this nation to its knees. The surburbs would be the first to go up in smoke. No manner of police or National Guard could prevent millions of anger folk. These folk would be OF ALL ETHNICS, including illegals. Think about it! Fox News are fanning the fires of hatred; this march on Washington is just another straw in the mix. Sooner or later, the world will sit back and note how America brought on its own demise due to "racism." I do not like what I see because I know the reprecussions. When illegal immigration becomes an issue next year, the GOP and others are on their own. Regardless of where the chips fall, you deal with it. Is if better for racist whites to destroy the country than for an illegal? You be the judge and make that call.-
ANSWER:
No doubt many bigots who hate the fact that Obama is President are intermingled with the people who just don't agree with Obama's policies. They diminish the credibility of the dissenters and give the impression that a lot of the opposition to Obama's policies are racially motivated.

QUESTION:
How can Obama claim to "fix the broken politics in Washington" after he defeats Republican John McCain?
How can we expect anything GOOD to come of Obama, and better how does he plan on changing anything? He does not give ANY details I will tell you how he will change it FOR THE WORSE, you what to know how to do worse than Bush look at Obama that is how! He knows little to nothing about Washington and worse he tries his best to bring down McCain with what should be miserable results can you honestly want a man in office that does not respect America or anything that we stand for? Why would you elect someone who does not respect those that have and do fight for our country? I want some one that says things like this:'The Pledge of Allegiance' - by Senator John McCain
'As you may know, I spent five and one half years as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War. In the early years of our imprisonment, the NVA kept us in solitary confinement or two or three to a cell. In 1971 the NVA moved us from these conditions of isolation into large rooms with as many as 30 to 40 men to a room.
This was, as you can imagine, a wonderful change and was a direct result of the efforts of millions of Americans on behalf of a few hundred POWs 10,000 miles from home.
One of the men who moved into my room was a young man named Mike Christian.
Mike came from a small town near Selma , Alabama . He didn't wear a pair of shoes until he was 13 years old. At 17, he enlisted in the US Navy. He later earned a commission by going to Officer Training School Then he became a Naval Flight Officer and was shot down and captured in 1967. Mike had a keen and deep appreciation of the opportunities this country and our military provide for people who want to work and want to succeed.
As part of the change in treatment, the Vietnamese allowed some prisoners to receive packages from home. In some of these packages were handkerchiefs, scarves and other items of clothing.
Mike got himself a bamboo needle. Over a period of a couple of months, he created an American flag and sewed it on the inside of his shirt.
Every afternoon, before we had a bowl of soup, we would hang Mike's shirt on the wall of the cell and say the Pledge of Allegiance.
I know the Pledge of Allegiance may not seem the most important part of our day now, but I can assure you that in that stark cell it was indeed the most important and meaningful event.
One day the Vietnamese searched our cell, as they did periodically, and discovered Mike's shirt with the flag sewn inside, and removed it.
That evening they returned, opened the door of the cell, and for the benefit of all of us, beat Mike Christian severely for the next couple of hours. Then, they opened the door of the cell and threw him in. We cleaned him up as well as we could.
The cell in which we lived had a concrete slab in the middle on which we slept Four naked light bulbs hung in each corner of the room.
As I said, we tried to clean up Mike as well as we could. After the excitement died down, I looked in the corner of the room, and sitting there beneath that dim light bulb with a piece of red cloth, another shirt and his bamboo needle, was my friend, Mike Christian. He was sitting there with his eyes almost shut from the beating he had received, making another American flag. He was not making the flag because it made Mike Christian feel better. He was making that flag because he knew how important it was to us to be able to Pledge our allegiance to our flag and country.
So the next time you say the Pledge of Allegiance, you must never forget the sacrifice and courage that thousands of Americans have made to build our nation and promote freedom around the world. You must remember our duty, our honor, and our country.'
'I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.'
I know Obama will not win it will be by a landslide if the Americans that are hypnotized by him would wake up and smell what he is shoveling! I just put what the article I read on Yahoo said.-

If you weren't aware of this, but the pledge of allegiance was written by a socialist

why do people scam?? YORKIE SCAM?
I have always wanted a Yorkie Terrier. I saw an ad in the Charleston NC for two free yorkies. I emailed the lady (Nini Nouns) and we corresponded back and forth a few times. Everything sounded legit. She even sent me pictures of "Jake" and "Cindy" She said that she'd dropped the pups off at the airport and the pet carrier service that works for the airlines would contact me with shipping info and I could arrange payment with them.
The "supposed" shipping company contacted me and wanted me to send a Walmart MoneyGram to Cameroon. That popped up a red flag, so I didnt send any money--and I didnt get any pups either (although I doubt they existed)

QUESTION:
America wake up our rights are being taken away ! is that what you want ?
The airports of the developed world have been turned into mini prototype police states, with little or no backlash from those forced to pass through them. But of course we’ll suffer any assault on our God-given rights to ‘save us from the terrorists,’ won’t we? This argument is based on the assumption that there are actual terrorists worth worrying about and secondly that the measures being taken in our airports are aimed at stopping their activity. Both claims cannot be substantiated.Following in the footsteps of several US counterparts, Sydney Airport recently announced its beta testing of face recognition biometric cameras, aimed at identifying ‘terrorists and other undesirable travellers’ according to the Sydney Morning Herald. As with all biometric technologies, the digital algorithms that make up your facial features are captured and compared with a computer database of criminals. If you resemble an enemy of the state then red flags are immediately coordinated to the operator and your dangerous terrorist activity is brought to a swift halt.Proponents of this system fail to take into account that terrorist masterminds are hardly likely to use notorious criminals to carry out operations where their movements will be filmed a hundred times over. If there were nineteen hijackers on September 11 roaming around American airports, surely there would be multiple video sequences of their activity? The FBI says so but all they have provided us with is a dodgy tape of Atta with two different time stamps on it. The rest is classified ‘due to the ongoing investigation’.
Another fairly important factor related to facial recognition technology is that it doesn’t actually work. A Boston Globe report, cited by The Register, concludes that a similar test at Boston’s Logan Airport failed miserably. You see, not unlike a toaster that only has two settings – burnt and warm bread – facial recognition technology is either far too sensitive or positively laid back. Either Ahmed and his terrorist chums walk on by unhindered or a mother with a pram is likely to be subjected to an armed standoff. On the non-sensitive setting, anyone who is aware of the technology can avoid it by wearing a pair of sunglasses.
So what other methods will Big Brother present in order to ‘save us from the terrorists’?
In the first stage of what will eventually morph into the behemoth ‘Total Information Awareness’ – the US Justice Department has proposed anti-terrorism regulations that would entail everyone who wanted to fly in and out of the country would be forced to disclose detailed personal information. This report was carried by The Washington Times. Even though the Immigration and Naturalization Service would implement the regulations, the law would apply to American citizens. This at a time when both the northern and southern borders are more wide open than ever. The ACLU, more interested in making sure gay people are allowed to cavort in street parades, have declared no opposition to the proposal.
Some people, perhaps even most, would have no aversion to providing their name, date of birth, citizenship, sex, passport number, country of residence, U.S. visa number, and address while in the United States. I would certainly support such measures for foreigners if I were under the delusion that our governments had any incentive to prevent terrorism. But what most don’t realize is that this is only the initial stage of a nice little horror that the government has been planning for a year or more.
As can be judged from reports early last year by both The Washington Post and The Los Angeles Times, these new proposals are merely the first generation in the creation of a centralized government database via the airports and airliners and one which will possibly form the largest chunk of Total Information Awareness.
Federal aviation authorities (power) in alliance with technology companies (greed) eventually plan to delve much deeper into your personal life, right down to your daily activities through to what magazines you read. This, according to Joseph Del Balzo, formerly with the FAA, will enable the government to have, “a pretty good idea of what’s going on in a person’s mind.” Such minute details would characterize an individual’s ‘threat assessment’ – so if you willingly submit to letting the government know how many times you go to the toilet a day then you’ll get a green security grade, cheap airline tickets, fast airport security checks, convenience and consumer love. On the other hand, if you have any semblance of morality or memories of what it was like to live in a free country and refuse the ‘trusted traveller pass’ – you’ll get a red security grade and will be rightly hassled for the subversive that you are.
The government will have a large task on its hands collating all the data, but has already been assured by market research companies that the system is workable. They will willingly pass on the data they’ve collected on you from all those annoying dinnertime calls, just for a small slice of the money pie. Big Brother then quashes our fears by promising us there is no possible scope for abuse of the program. Officials admit that ultimately the system is designed to be integrated into the biometric national ID card. Let me spell it out for you. A mandatory national ID card with your biometric thumbprint scanned on which tells the reader how the government view your behaviour on a scale of ‘submissive and compliant with state demands’ (green) to ‘definite subversive, possible enemy of the state and potential terrorist – 9pm house curfew’. Get the picture?
Just take a glance at how the early ‘security measures’ have played out at airports across the world. Every week we hear stories about 18-year-old zit faced adolescents fondling blonde haired, blue-eyed women because they might be terrorists. Or how obese, greasy old men take 8-year-old Katie aside for some ‘special screening’. Nicholas Monahan, a film producer, related the harrowing tale of how his pregnant wife was forced to expose herself and have screeners touch her breasts in full public view at Portland International Airport. Upon seeing his wife crying her eyes out, Monahan complained and was subsequently arrested and thrown in the airport jail (yes they do have those now). Monahan likened his experience to something out of The Gulag Archipelago. The trauma of the experience contributed to his wife having to have a caesarean section.
Don’t forget for a second that all this is coming from a government that is ‘manufacturing terrorist alerts to keep the issue alive in the minds of voters and to keep President Bush’s approval ratings high’ according to World Net Daily. Go look for the definition of terrorism in your dictionary and you’ll get something similar to, "The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.” By this very definition, the only group gaining a political advantage from terrorism or the threat of terrorism is the White House! Who is creating the ‘terrorist threat’ to justify the windfall of power and money that goes hand in glove with new airport security regulations? The very same group pushing the security regulations.
Here’s a solution that would prevent another September 11 from happening, along with preventing our airports from becoming police state processing points. It’s a solution that is loaded with common sense, guaranteed to work, but would make no money for technology companies and wouldn’t contribute to feeding Total Information Awareness, which is just coincidentally why the government has been dragging its feet over implementing it. Arm the pilots.

QUESTION:
Is this not a true and well timed story?
With the showing of "Flags of Our Fathers", I think this is an interesting and enlightening storyTale of Six Boys
Each year I am hired to go to Washington, DC, with the eighth grade class
from Clinton, WI. where I grew up, to videotape their trip. I greatly enjoy
visiting our nation's capitol, and each year I take some special memories
back with me. This fall's trip was especially memorable. On the last night of our trip, we stopped at the Iwo Jima memorial. This
memorial is the largest bronze statue in the world and depicts one of the
most famous photographs in history -- that of the six brave soldiers raising
the American Flag at the top of a rocky hill on the island of Iwo Jima,
Japan, during WW II.Over one hundred students and chaperones piled off the buses and headed
towards the memorial. I noticed a solitary figure at the base of the statue,
and as I got closer he asked, "Where are you guys from?"I told him that we were from Wisconsin. "Hey, I'm a cheese head, too! Come
gather around, Cheese heads, and I will tell you a story."(James Bradley just happened to be in Washington, DC, to speak at the
memorial the following day. He was there that night to say good night to his
dad, who has since passed away. He was just about to leave when he saw the
buses pull up. I videotaped him as he spoke to us, and received his
permission to share what he said from my videotape. It is one thing to tour
the incredible monuments filled with history in Washington, D.C., but it is
quite another to get the kind of insight we received that night.) When all
had gathered around, he reverently began to speak. (Here are his words that
night.)"My name is James Bradley and I'm from Antigo, Wisconsin. My dad is on that
statue, and I just wrote a book called "Flags of Our Fathers" which is #5 on
the New York Times Best Seller list right now. It is the story of the six
boys you see behind me."Six boys raised the flag. The first guy putting the pole in the ground is
Harlon Block. Harlon was an all-state football player. He enlisted in the
Marine Corps with all the senior members of his football team. They were off
to play another type of game. A game called "War." But it didn't turn out to
be a game.Harlon, at the age of 21, died with his intestines in his hands. I don't say
that to gross you out, I say that because there are people who stand in
front of this statue and talk about the glory of war. You guys need to know
that most of the boys in Iwo Jima were 17, 18, and 19 years old.(He pointed to the statue) "You see this next guy? That's Rene Gagnon from
New Hampshire. If you took Rene's helmet off at the moment this photo was
taken and looked in the webbing of that helmet, you would find a
photograph... a photograph of his girlfriend. Rene put that in there for
protection because he was scared. He was 18 years old. Boys won the battle
of Iwo Jima Boys. Not old men."The next guy here, the third guy in this tableau, was Sergeant Mike Strank.
Mike is my hero. He was the hero of all these guys. They called him the "old
man" because he was so old. He was already 24. When Mike would motivate his
boys in training camp, he didn't say, 'Let's go kill some Japanese' or
'Let's die for our country.' He knew he was talking to little boys. Instead
he would say, 'You do what I say, and I'll get you home to your mothers.'"The last guy on this side of the statue is Ira Hayes, a Pima Indian from
Arizona. Ira Hayes walked off Iwo Jima He went into the White House with my
dad. President Truman told him, 'You're a hero' He told reporters, 'How can
I feel like a hero when 250 of my buddies hit the island with me and only 27
of us walked off alive?' So you take your class at school, 250 of you
spending a year together having fun, doing everything together. Then all 250
of you hit the beach, but only 27 of your classmates walk off alive. That
was Ira Hayes. He had images of horror in his mind. Ira Hayes died dead
drunk, face down at the age of 32 .. ten years after this picture was taken.
"The next guy, going around the statue, is Franklin Sousley from Hilltop,
Kentucky A fun-lovin' hillbilly boy. His best friend, who is now 70, told
me, 'Yeah, you know, we took two cows up on the porch of the Hilltop General
Store. Then we strung wire across the stairs so the cows couldn't get down.
Then we fed them Epsom salts. Those cows crapped all night. Yes, he was a
fun-lovin' hillbilly boy. Franklin died on Iwo Jima at the age of 19. When
the telegram came to tell his mother that he was dead, it went to the
Hilltop General Store. A barefoot boy ran that telegram up to his mother's
farm. The neighbors could hear her scream all night and into the morning.
The neighbors lived a quarter of a mile away."The next guy, as we continue to go around the statue, is my dad, John
Bradley from Antigo, Wisconsin, where I was raised. My dad lived until 1994,
but he would never give interviews. When Walter Cronkite's producers, or the
New York Times would call, we were trained as little kids to say 'No, I'm
sorry, sir, my dad's not here. He is in Canada fishing. No, there is no
phone there, sir. No, we don't know when he is coming back. My dad never
fished or even went to Canada. Usually, he was sitting there right at the
table eating his Campbell's soup. But we had to tell the press that he was
out fishing. He didn't want to talk to the press."You see, my dad didn't see himself as a hero. Everyone thinks these guys
are heroes, 'cause they are in a photo and on a monument. My dad knew
better. He was a medic. John Bradley from Wisconsin was a caregiver. In Iwo
Jima he probably held over 200 boys as they died. And when boys died in Iwo
Jima, they writhed and screamed in pain."When I was a little boy, my third grade teacher told me that my dad was a
hero. When I went home and told my dad that, he looked at me and said, 'I
want you always to remember that the heroes of Iwo Jima are the guys who did
not come back. Did NOT come back.'""So that's the story about six nice young boys. Three died on Iwo Jima, and
three came back as national heroes. Overall, 7,000 boys died on Iwo Jima in
the worst battle in the history of the Marine Corps. My voice is giving out,
so I will end here. Thank you for your time."Suddenly, the monument wasn't just a big old piece of metal with a flag
sticking out of the top. It came to life before our eyes with the heartfelt
words of a son who did indeed have a father who was a hero. Maybe not a hero
for the reasons most people would believe, but a hero nonetheless. We need to remember that God created this vast and glorious world for us to
live in, freely, but also at great sacrifice. Let us never forget from the
Revolutionary War to the current War on Terrorism and all the wars
in-between that sacrifice was made for our freedom. Remember to pray praises
for this great country of ours and also pray for those still in murderous
unrest around the world. STOP and thank God for being alive and being free
at someone else's sacrifice.REMINDER: Everyday that you can wake up free is a blessing.

Which supreme court case should i do?
These are all the ones i found interesting, which one should i do and please give me a link to it's information:Hazelwood School District v. Kuhlmeier
Citation: 484 U.S. 260,108 S.Ct. 562 (1988) Concepts: Censorship/State Rights v. Students’ Free Press Rights
Facts
Kathy Kuhlmeier and two other journalism students wrote articles on pregnancy and divorce for their school newspaper. Their teacher submitted page proofs to the principal for approval. The principal objected to the articles because he felt that the students described in the article on pregnancy, although not named, could be identified, and the father discussed in the article on divorce was not allowed to respond to the derogatory article. The principal also said that the language used was not appropriate for younger students. When the newspaper was printed, two pages containing the articles in question as well as four other articles approved by the principal were deleted.

Mills v. Board of Education of District of Columbia
Citation: 348 F.Supp. 866 (1972) Concept: Education for Exceptional Children Equal Protection v. State Rights
Facts
Seven children of school age were denied education because they were mentally retarded, emotionally disturbed, hyperactive, or had behavioral problems. The Board of Education did not provide schooling for these exceptional children, violating controlling statutes and their own board regulations. It was also estimated that 18,000 similar “exceptional” children in the Washington, D.C., area were not in school. The D.C. school system admitted that it had failed its duty to provide these children with publicly supported education suited to their individual needs. It also had failed to provide prior hearings and periodic reviews of each exceptional student case.
West Virginia State Board of Education v. Barnette
Citation: 319 U.S. 624 (1943) Concepts: Flag Salute/State Rights v. Establishment Clause
Facts
The West Virginia State Board of Education required by state law that all students salute the flag and recite the pledge of allegiance as a part of their daily routine. Students who refused were suspended, declared unlawfully absent, and subject to delinquency proceedings. Parents of such students were also subject to a fine or imprisonment. Several Jehovah’s Witnesses, who were citizens of West Virginia, sought from the court an injunction to stop the West Virginia State Board of Education from requiring the pledge and flag salute.

QUESTION:
How do you feel about the church giving an illegal alien woman and her kids shelter from the authorities?
Woman facing deportation remains at Simi churchA 31-year-old woman from Oxnard named Liliana, accused of falsely claiming to be a U.S. citizen during a failed attempt to enter the country a decade ago, remains on church property 730 days after she arrived with her then-5-month-old son. She stayed there when her uncle died and when her father was in the hospital with prostate cancer, fearful leaving even for a few hours could mean deportation.
As they have from the beginning, immigration authorities say only that they have the right to arrest lawbreakers at what they call appropriate times and places. They have made no visible effort to contact Liliana.
Her children have written letters to President Barack Obama. Her lawyers hold out hope they have found a way to allow her to return home to Oxnard, maybe within months. But legal experts say there’s no way to know how long the stalemate will continue.
“They could ignore her for the rest of her life,” said USC law professor Niels Frenzen, who expects the government will eventually act.
She calls herself Liliana Santuario, using the Spanish word for sanctuary and refusing to use her real name. She lives behind United Church of Christ in a parsonage decorated with her wedding photo, a flag that displays Our Lady of Guadalupe amid Mexico’s colors and knickknacks featuring Hannah Montana.
Inside the front door, on the other side of a welcome sign, hangs a note with the phone number of a lawyer to call in case a visitor refuses to provide identification. That has happened.
But the threats of citizen arrests, angry rallies on Sunday mornings and a battle with the city over the costs of security at the protests faded long ago. Ask people once involved about Liliana now and they’re surprised she’s still there.
“I’ve basically lost track. I guess at this point we don’t care,” said Simi Valley Mayor Paul Miller, who once traveled to Washington, D.C., to ask federal officials to expedite Liliana’s case and minimize the security risk posed to the city. “We can’t get the feds to do anything. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a nonissue.”
Protesters said the same thing. “Is that chick still there?” asked a former leader of the Save Our State group who asked that his name not be used. He once organized the rallies demanding Liliana’s deportation.
No visible options
She lives in the sanctuary with her three children, ages 2, 6 and 9, all born in the United States. They come and go for soccer games and miniature golf outings. Her husband, Gerardo, is a naturalized citizen who works for a tool company, lives in Oxnard but spends much time at the parsonage.

We also are losing jobs -WASHINGTON — New claims for US unemployment benefits rose unexpectedly for the second consecutive week, the government said Thursday, raising concerns that soaring jobless numbers could stifle recovery from prolonged recession. The Labor Department said that initial jobless claims increased by 15,000 to 576,000 in the week to August 15, which happens to be the survey week for the monthly non-farm payrolls report, seen as one of the best indicators of economic momentum.
Most analysts had expected initial claims to fall to 550,000 in the past week — the previous week’s revised figure was 561,000 — amid increasing signs that the recession since December 2007 was easing. The four-week moving average, which smooths out week-to-week volatility, was 570,000, an increase of 4,250 from the previous week’s revised average of 565,750, the department said.

QUESTION:
Why is the CBP exempt from the Fourth Amendment?
What good is having a bill of rights when the federal government can create "exceptions" for themselves? I wonder how many more "exemptions" they have created for themselves in the name of "security." The USSA is a police state. We only have an illusion of freedom. It's just one more reason why I only fly the Confederate flag and support secession from Imperial Washington DC. I have no respect for those greedy power hungry assholes in Washington that make up both parties.
Thank you MikeGolf. People like you are the reason we are losing our rights. They already gutted the second amendment. Now the fourth. Perhaps soon you will have no "life" other than what the government plans for you. Apparantly CBP must only give Mexican nationals fourth amendment rights and detain American citizens at will because what they are doing is not working.
I do have a huge problem with being arrested for no reason and without a warrant. When CBP takes your property and detains you 1 hour, you are being arrested. They don't have to use handcuffs. You need to wake up.-
ANSWER:
I notice that you failed to provide specifics to support your claim. If you have a problem with customs inspections at points of entry into the US - then you need to get a life.
Edit: it sounds like you need to learn what the term 'arrest' means.

QUESTION:
Was the First President of the United States! 1781-1782 A.D.???
Nobody seems to know who John Hanson was and very little is mentioned of him. George Washington was really the 8th President of the United States!George Washington was not the first President of the United States. In fact, the first President of the United States was one John Hanson. Don't go checking the encyclopedia for this guy's name - he is one of those great men that are lost to history. If you're extremely lucky, you may actually find a brief mention of his name.
The new country was actually formed on March 1, 1781 with the adoption of The Articles of Confederation.
This document was actually proposed on June 11, 1776, but not agreed upon by Congress until November 15, 1777. Maryland refused to sign this document until Virginia and New York ceded their western lands (Maryland was afraid that these states would gain too much power in the new government from such large amounts of land).Once the signing took place in 1781, a President was needed to run the country. John Hanson was chosen unanimously by Congress (which included George Washington). In fact, all the other potential candidates refused to run against him, as he was a major player in the revolution and an extremely influential member of Congress.
As the first President, Hanson had quite the shoes to fill. No one had ever been President and the role was poorly defined. His actions in office would set precedent for all future Presidents.
He took office just as the Revolutionary War ended. Almost immediately, the troops demanded to be paid. As would be expected after any long war, there were no funds to meet the salaries. As a result, the soldiers threatened to overthrow the new government and put Washington on the throne as a monarch.
All the members of Congress ran for their lives, leaving Hanson as the only guy left running the government. He somehow managed to calm the troops down and hold the country together. If he had failed, the government would have fallen almost immediately and everyone would have been bowing to King Washington. In fact, Hanson sent 800 pounds of sterling siliver by his brother Samuel Hanson to George Washington to provide the troops with shoes.
Hanson, as President, ordered all foreign troops off American soil, as well as the removal of all foreign flags. This was quite the feat, considering the fact that so many European countries had a stake in the United States since the days following Columbus.
Hanson established the Great Seal of the United States, which all Presidents have since been required to use on all official documents.
President Hanson also established the first Treasury Department, the first Secretary of War, and the first Foreign Affairs Department.
Lastly, he declared that the fourth Thursday of every November was to be Thanksgiving Day, which is still true today.
The Articles of Confederation only allowed a President to serve a one year term during any three year period, so Hanson actually accomplished quite a bit in such little time.
Six other presidents were elected after him - Elias Boudinot (1783), Thomas Mifflin (1784), Richard Henry Lee (1785), Nathan Gorman (1786), Arthur St. Clair (1787), and Cyrus Griffin (1788) - all prior to Washington taking office.
So what happened?
Why don't we ever hear about the first seven Presidents of the United States?
It's quite simple - The Articles of Confederation didn't work well. The individual states had too much power and nothing could be agreed upon.
A new doctrine needed to be written - something we know as the Constitution.
And that leads us to the end of our story.
George Washington was definitely not the first President of the United States. He was the first President of the United States under the Constitution we follow today.
And the first seven Presidents are forgotten in history.

QUESTION:
I found this note on facebook about forgotten presidents... true?
This is long but I found this note on facebook and was wanting to know if any history buffs found truth in it. And this isn't a note against or for any race... A black student actually posted it. This is what the note read:The First President Of the United States Was A Black Man
Let me start black history month a few weeks early. Barack Obama has plans of running for President of the United States, But will he be the first Black President or the 8th Black President? I know this posting will stir controversty but George Washington was not the first President of the U.S. Let's take a look at history.

-
ANSWER:
John Hanson was not a president, nor were the seven who followed him. What was referred to as president under the Articles of Confederation was essentially today's Speaker of the House. There was no separate executive branch of government. The old form of presidency cited here is not analogous to what we know as the presidency today.

QUESTION:
What do you think about this story?
To Be Continued….

QUESTION:
i want opinions on Cannibis (Marijuana)?
Now I am not ashamed to admit that I am a heavy marijuana smoker; the government based test that is paid for by the alcohol, tobacco, and oil companies pay for, say that cannabis use reduce learning ability, they found users fall short on memory as well as math and verbal skills, I am proud smoker and even prouder that I have an I.Q. of 113 and my best subjects in school were math and English, the only reason the people fail the test is that they make them smoke an ounce and them give them the test, nowadays no one has the cash to smoke a ounce every day.
Now chronic cannabis smokers are prey to chest colds, bronchitis, emphysema, and bronchial asthma? And when pregnant women use cannabis, they run the risk of having smaller babies with lower birth weights, who are more likely than other babies to develop health problems, how’s that any difference that smoking cigarettes? I have smoked from an early age and the time I have never gotten moody or twitchy with out it. I only have one question how is cannabis worse than alcohol. I tried to find stats from cannabis induced deaths and this is all I got.Cannabis- you would half to smoke magnitudes of it, I mean like over 100+ pounds of top grade stuff.
Alcohol- .40 on a BAC is enough to kill someone (depending on you height, weight, and fat content that’s not much.)
Did you know, it is estimated that hemp has approximately 25,000 uses? From food, paint and fuel to clothing and construction materials, hemp is used. There are even hemp fibres in your Red Rose® and Lipton® tea bags. And several cars made today contain hemp.
The oldest relic of human industry is a piece of hemp fabric (canvas) found in ancient Mesopotamia dating back to approximately 8000 B.C. The oldest surviving piece of paper was made over 2000 years ago in China and was also made from hemp fiber. In 2500 B.C. the pharaohs used hemp in the construction of the great pyramids.
Hemp was so important in England in the 16th century that King Henry VIII passed a law in 1553 which fined farmers who failed to grow at least one quarter acre of hemp for every 60 acres of arable land they owned. There was even a time in history for over 200 years when you could pay your taxes in America with hemp. In 1850 there were more than 8,300 hemp farms in the United States .
Every 3.6 seconds someone in the world dies of hunger. Hemp seeds are the most nutritious and economical solution to end world hunger. With an 80 percent concentration of "good fats" our bodies need for good health maintenance and protein with all eight amino acids plus optimum dietary fiber, hemp truly is a "perfect balance" food source.
The first diesel engine was designed to run on vegetable oils, one of which was hemp oil. In the 1930s Henry Ford produced an automobile composed of 70 percent hemp plastic which also ran on hemp based fuel and oil. In 2001 the "Hemp car" circled the North American continent powered by hemp oil.
The paintings of Rembrandt (1606- 1669), Vincent Van Gogh (1853-1890) and Thomas Gainsborough (1727- 1788) were painted primarily on hemp canvas, often with hemp oil based paint. Over 50 percent of all chemical pesticides sprayed are used in the cultivation of cotton. Hemp is eight times stronger than cotton and more air-permeable.
Hemp can grow vigorously (up to 16 feet) in 100 days without the use of harmful pesticides and herbicides... healthier for your skin and the environment. There are so many uses for cannabis it unreal let me name a few
George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and other founding fathers grew it.
Benjamin Franklin owned one of the first paper mills in America and it processed cannabis.
The first bibles, maps, even Betsey Roses flag and the first drafts of the US declaration of Independence and the Constitution were made of cannabis.
Cannabis was the largest cash crop till the 20th century
In 1916 US predicted that by the 1940s all paper would come from cannabis and no more trees had to be cut down.
Government studies show that 1 acre of cannabis equals 4.1 acres of trees.
In 1938 on the cover of popular mechanics the title read hemp called billion dollar crop. It was the first time a cash crop had the busyness potinontal to exceed a billion dollars.
Mechanical engineering magazine published an article entitled the most profitable and desirable crop that can be grown. It stated if cannabis was cultivated using 20th century technology it would be the single largest agricultural crop in the USA and the rest of the world.
Cannabis cultivation and production dose not harm the environment.
It had a short growing period and it can grow in any state.
Cannabis would have brought America out of the great depression.
Cannabis has a higher quality fiber than wool fiber.
Cannabis grows to maturity in a short season where as trees take a life time.
Cannabis plastics are biodegradable.
cannabis seeds contain the highest amount of protein in all of nature.
The
Cannabis expands the arteries.
we have used 80% of our oil and gas reserves we need a renewable recourse
CANNIBISS COULD BE THE SOULTIOION TO SORING GAS PRICES!
I also have proof their no toxins in the cannabis plant, the reason why THC stays in your system for so long. If it were a toxin, a poison or some forgin substance, the body would reject it and expel it. The body dose not, It knows the active ingredient in cannabis is GOOD. Our own bodies tell us the truth. We need to stop believing these paid off government test and look at the facts. We support the leading two killers in the world (alcohol and tobacco) but ban the one thing that could help us the most, it dose not make any sense-

QUESTION:
Was there a black President before Barack Obama?
I see this question was asked before and received nothing but ignorant answers. A wise man will say he doesn't know, instead of giving out false information. The first President ever was black.John Hanson (a Moor) was actually the 1st President of the United States, he served from 1781 - 1782 and he was black. The new country was actually formed on March 1, 1781 with the adoption of The Articles of Confederation. This document was actually proposed on June 11, 1776, but not agreed upon by Congress until November 15, 1777. Maryland refused to sign this document until Virginia and New York ceded their western lands (Maryland was afraid that these states would gain too much power in the new government from such large amounts of land).
Once the signing took place in 1781, a President was needed to run the country. John Hanson was chosen unanimously by Congress (which included George Washington). In fact, all the other potential candidates refused to run against him, as he was a major player in the revolution and an extremely influential member of Congress.
As President, Hanson ordered all foreign troops off American soil, as well as removal of all foreign flags. He established the Great Seal of the United States, which all Presidents since have been required to use on all Official Documents. He declared that the 4th Thursday of every November to be Thanksgiving Day, which is still true today. Even though elected, one variable that was never thought through was that America was not going to accept a Black President during the heart of the enslavement period. Enter George Washington.
Google his name and also get a book called Lies My Teacher Told Me. It even tells of the first statue of liberty being a black woman!
People should wonder why so much black history is kept secret. Who are the true Master Builders?

There were actually 5 total before Obama, the rest just hid it well. Coolidges mother's last name was Moor and that name was given to all blacks.http://www.geocities.com/cureworks1/5blkpres.htm

QUESTION:
Unthinkable act performed by christians?
-
ANSWER:
There is no excuse for such behavior.
Protesting against something is one thing, physically spitting ON someone because they are in a uniform and happen to be back from a warzone, is NOT ok. It's a cowardly act and disgusting.I read some of the comments that had been posted on the link that punkkittie had posted.
I agree that people that do this SHOULD be charged and they should do community service in a VA hospital.@craig b - Regardless of their resentment towards the govt, soldiers are trained to follow orders, to fight for freedoms just to have people spit in their faces? If people have issues with their elected leaders take it out on the leaders, not the troops on the ground level. To do so is cowardly.

QUESTION:
Did you know a black man named John Hanson Was the First President of the United States! 1781-1782 A.D.?
George Washington was not the first President of the United States.
In fact, Hanson sent 800 pounds of sterling siliver by his brother Samuel Hanson to George Wasington to provide the troops with shoes.

ANSWER:
As a Brit, I was totally unaware of these inexcusable actions from Obama. We Brits are stereotypically obsessed with manners, etiquette and decorum, and (if they are true) Obama's actions towards Gordon Brown are just rude, and totally unbecoming for such an important diplomatic figure.
However, I don't think it would be fair to blame him for the undeniable animosity between the US and other countries. There has been a lot of mutual suspicion, distrust or flat-out hatred between the US and certain parts of 'the rest of the world' for a long time, and it is not necessarily Obama's job to make new friends overseas.

Hypocrisy at it's worst. And also another example of not wanting to respect anyone's right to believe in what they want.Barack Obama wants to end his inaugural oath with the words "so help me God". A group of atheists is asking a US judge to stop him.

Newdow and other atheists and agnostics also want to stop the use of prayers during the inaugural celebration.
Newdow, who lost a Supreme Court battle to get the words "under God" removed from the Pledge of Allegiance, an unofficial affirmation of fealty to the US flag said at many public occasions, has failed in similar challenges to the use of religious words and prayers at President George W Bush's inaugurations.
Roberts' lawyer, Jeffrey Minear, filed a document in Newdow's lawsuit saying that Obama wants the words "so help me God" included in his oath of office.
The Justice Department and attorneys-general from all 50 states have filed motions at the federal court asking for the lawsuit to be thrown out.
The oath dictated by the Constitution is 35 words long. It reads: "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of president of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
The National Archives says that George Washington added the words "so help me God" when he took the oath at his 1789 inaugural, and most presidents have used it since. Some have argued that the first eyewitness account of a president using the words came at president Chester A Arthur's inauguration in 1881.
Named in Newdow's lawsuit are Roberts; Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein , who represents Newdow's state, California; and the two pastors invited to the event, Rick Warren and Joseph Lowery.
US District Judge Reggie B Walton will hear arguments on Thursda
Michael Newdow is trying to force his views on everyone which makes him a hypocrite in my opinion. Just b/c he doesn't believe in a God doesn't give him the right to force his views on others. Everyone should be allowed to believe or not believe freely as they wish.
Good point lj1. It's so funny how they want to deny people the right to believe or not believe in a God but in the meantime they defend freedom of speech rights for the KKK & for Nambla a group who supports having sex with kids.-
ANSWER:
My opinion on the so help me God point are that while I do not know what my real beliefs are, emphasis should be given to the ME part of the four words, in that Obama is not saying, so help YOU God. He is entitled to his beliefs. I could understand the lawsuit if he was trying to push it onto people but he isn't. The point is, if American currency bears the words 'in God we trust', why can't the president say he believes in God? The guy behind this lawsuit is clearly a crackpot.

QUESTION:
Do You Like My Veterans Day Poem?
Veterans DayWe fought along Washington at the birth of a nation
We fought for states rights and the slaves emancipation
We ran and died where none would ever know our name
We did it for freedom, not money or fameWe we’re cut down before we could run
Jumping out of the trenches in World War One
The world called again when we did it for you
When we died for freedom in World War TwoWe jump out of airplanes without a second thought
Ordinary men become heroes where they stood and fought
We each have a different story, background, and race
Doing our duty that is our placeSome of us flew in cramped airplanes
Some of use can never tell of our real names
We dived to the waters cold dark depths
We marched under fire straight to our deaths
We fought and died in horses of steel
We fought without water and without any mealsPlease don’t let our story go untold
Let the people know what freedom our flag truly holds
We gave our lives for yours jumping into the fray
Remember us every Veterans Day-

QUESTION:
Nobama's inauguration...?
WASHINGTON, DCHighlights from Barack Obama's inaugural address --
- Obama will legally change his name to OSAMA SADDAM bin OBAMA;
- Obama will be addressed as AYATOLLAH and not Mr. President;
- The Presidential (...oops...Ayatollah...) retreat will no longer be Camp David but Teheran, Iran;
- To redistribute America's wealth and even out the tax burden, all American families will be designated
as Fortune '500' corporations;- 250 US Air Force C5 Galaxy transport aircraft will immediately begin ferrying Mexican citizens into the
United States;- Six, 1-mile-wide bridges will be build across the Rio Grande River where it forms the international
border between the US and Mexico;- As part of his energy conservation program, all US Air Force aircraft will subsequently be melted down
and replaced with WWII C-47's and Piper Cubs. All military ground forces will be equipped with
bicycles for transport;
- John McCain will be returned to Ho Chi Minh City--formerly Hanoi--to finish serving his term as a P.O.W.
- The White House will be rotated so that it faces east, towards Mecca;
- Increase the number of abortions per year from 3-million to at least 9-million;
- Medical schools will be built at various locations--including Bergen-Belsen and Dachau--where
an additional 1-million abortionists will be trained;- All federal funding will be cut off to those states whose electoral votes went to McCain;
Miscellaneous observations --
- At the conclusion of his speech, the Ayatollah pulled out a 9mm automatic and emptied it into the air,
ala Sadam Hussein;- As she mounted the reviewing stand, Michelle Obama waved a large placard showing a man urinating
on the American flag;- Throughout the Ayatollah's speech, leading members of the Democratic-dominated Congress on the
reviewing stand smiled broadly, nodded their heads constantly, and punctuated each of Obama's
declarations with shouts of "Hallelujah. . .tell 'em brother. . ." and "Uh-huh, yeah!"- Obviously not at all interested in the procedings, Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton passionately
groped each other while Bill Clinton watched and masturbated-

3). Install a new floor design in all federal public buildings (courthouses, post offices, legislative offices etc) that bears the design of the American flag so anyone stepping into the building will have to walk on the flag.
4). Round up all the Republicans in the House and Senate and charge them all with treason. Execute them shortly afterwards as traitors and publicly praise the democrats for their loyalty. Hold new elections for all open seats that only include democrats.
5). Grow a beard.

QUESTION:
If Israel is supposed to be our greatest ally, why have they been caught spying on us so many times?
1947. Information collected by the ADL in its spy operations on US citizens is used by the House Select Committee on Unamerican Activities. Subcommittee Chair Clare Hoffman dismisses the ADL’s reports on suspected communists as “hearsay."1950 John Davitt, former chief of the Justice Department's internal security section notes that the Israeli intelligence service is the second most active in the United States after the Soviets.
1954 A hidden microphone planted by the Israelis is discovered in the Office of the US Ambassador in Tel Aviv.
1956 Telephone taps are found connected to two telephones in the residence of the US military attach in Tel Aviv.
1954 "The Lavon Affair". Israeli agents recruit Egyptian citizens of Jewish descent to bomb Western targets in Egypt, and plant evidence to frame Arabs, in an apparent attempt to upset US-Egyptian relations. Israeli defense minister Pinchas Lavon is eventually removed from office, though many think real responsibility lay with David Ben-Gurion.
1965 Israel apparently illegally obtains enriched uranium from NUMEC Corporation. (Washington Post, 6/5/86, Charles R. Babcock, "US an Intelligence Target of the Israelis, Officials Say.")
1967 Israel attacks the USS Liberty, an intelligence gathering vessel flying a US flag, killing 34 crew members. See "Assault on the Liberty," by James M. Ennes, Jr. (Random House). In 2004, Captain Ward Boston, Senior Legal Counsel for the Navy’s Court of Inquiry into the attack swears under oath that President Lyndon Johnson ordered the investigation to conclude accident, even though the evidence indicates the attack was deliberate. Given the use by Israel of unmarked boats and planes, and the machine-gunning of USS Liberty’s lifeboats, the most likely explanation is that USS Liberty was to be sunk with all hands, with evidence left to frame Egypt for the sinking. This would have dragged the US into the war on Israel’s side.
1970 While working for Senator Henry “Scoop” Jackson, Richard Perle is caught by the FBI giving classified information to Israel. Nothing is done.
1978, Stephen Bryen, then a Senate Foreign Relations Committee staffer, is overheard in a DC hotel offering confidential documents to top Israeli military officials. Bryen obtains a lawyer, Nathan Lewin, and the case heads for the grand jury, but is mysteriously dropped. Bryen later goes to work for Richard Perle.
1979 Shin Beth [the Israeli internal security agency] tries to penetrate the US Consulate General in Jerusalem through a “Honey Trap”, using a clerical employee who was having an affair with a Jerusalem girl.
1985 The New York Times reports the FBI is aware of at least a dozen incidents in which American officials transferred classified information to the Israelis, quoting [former Assistant Director of the F.B.I.] Mr. [Raymond] Wannal. The Justice Department does not prosecute.
1985 Richard Smyth, the owner of MILCO, is indicted on charges of smuggling nuclear timing devices to Israel (Washington Post, 10/31/86).
1987 April 24 Wall Street Journal headline: "Role of Israel in Iran-Contra Scandal Won't be Explored in Detail by Panels"
1992 The Wall Street Journal reports that Israeli agents apparently tried to steal Recon Optical Inc's top-secret airborne spy-camera system.
1992 Stephen Bryen, caught offering confidential documents to Israel in 1978, is serving on board of the pro-Israeli Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs while continuing as a paid consultant -- with security clearance -- on exports of sensitive US technology.
1992 "The Samson Option," by Seymour M. Hersh reports, “Illicitly obtained intelligence was flying so voluminously from LAKAM into Israeli intelligence that a special code name, JUMBO, was added to the security markings already on the documents. There were strict orders, Ari Ben-Menashe recalled: "Anything marked JUMBO was not supposed to be discussed with your American counterparts."
1993. The ADL is caught operating a massive spying operation on critics of Israel, Arab-Americans, the San Francisco Labor Council, ILWU Local 10, Oakland Educational Association, NAACP, Irish Northern Aid, International Indian Treaty Council, the Asian Law Caucus and the San Francisco police. Data collected was sent to Israel and in some cases to South Africa. Pressure from Jewish organizations forces the city to drop the criminal case, but the ADL settles a civil lawsuit for an undisclosed sum of cash.
1995 The Defense Investigative Service circulates a memo warning US military contractors that "Israel aggressively collects [US] military and industrial technology." The report stated that Israel obtains information using "ethnic targeting, financial aggrandizement, and identification and exploitation of individual frailties" of US citizens.
I CANT EVEN FIT IT ALL!!! There is still 1996-2011!!!
*Edit* The ADL is an Israeli front organization. And just because top officials whitewashed the Liberty incident, does not mean the investigation has proven to be conclusive. The survivors are still trying to get the word out about Israel, and are still being silenced.
And a baseless denial is not an argument.-

QUESTION:
What are your thoughts about this?
"One of the most poignant memories I have of my father was a trip that we took to Europe when I was about thirteen
years old, and we went to Czechoslovokia and Poland and Italy and
Greece and France and Germany. And everywhere we went, we were met by
vast crowds of people, hundreds of thousands of people, who came out
because they wanted to be near an American politician. And it wasn't
just because my father's brother had been martyred three years
before. The same thing happened to Eisenhower when he went to Kabul
and Tehran. A million Muslim people met him on the street waving tiny
little American flags. And what I remember as a boy is these crowds
of people that were just hungry for American leadership, and they—not
bullying. They knew the difference. And they were starved for a moral
authority. And they proudly named their streets after our presidents,
Washington and Jefferson and Lincoln and Roosevelt and Kennedy. And I remember the day after 9/11, when the headline on the biggest
newspaper in France, Le Monde, was "We're All Americans Now." And for
three weeks after 9/11, thousands of Muslim people came out
spontaneously onto the streets of Tehran to make candlelight vigils
to show their support, their solidarity, their love for the United
States of America. We were the most beloved nation on the face of the
earth and in the history of mankind. And it took 230 years of disciplined visionary leadership by
Republican and Democratic presidents to build up those vast
reservoirs of public love for our country. And in seven short years,
through monumental arrogance and incompetence, this White House has
drained those reservoirs dry. We are now, according to virtually
every poll, the most hated nation and feared nation on earth. And
anybody who says that it's good for our national security when
European youth, as a recent poll showed, hold Osama bin Laden in the
same regard as they hold President Bush, and anybody who believes
it's good for our national security when Hezbollah is as popular in
the Mideast as America has their head in an oil well. You know, Abraham Lincoln said America—we're doing things today that
were inconceivable a few years ago. We're torturing people in
America. We're eavesdropping on our citizens. We are having
extraordinary renditions. We've suspend habeas corpus. We have these
black prisons. And, you know, Abraham Lincoln said that America is a
good nation—is a great nation, because we're a good nation. And he
warned that if we ever lose our goodness, we'll quickly forfeit our
greatness as well. You know, people say in the White House that we have to do these
things, because we're under such terrible threat. But that's a lie.
When I was a little boy, we had 25,000 nuclear-tipped missiles
pointing at our country from the Soviet Union with one guy able to
press a button and vaporize most of our population. And we weren't
torturing people and eavesdropping on our citizens and suspending
habeas corpus. During the Civil War, 659,000 Americans died. Our
cities were burned and occupied by foreign—by hostile armies. And we
didn't engage in those kind of behaviors. You know, during the Revolutionary War, George Washington was
approached by his generals with the idea of torturing British
soldiers to extract strategic information. At that time, the British
were torturing our soldiers in New York Harbor on coffin ships and
killing them by the dozens every day. Washington said to them, "I
would rather lose the war, because this is the first nation in
history that is based upon an idea, and the idea is one of essential
human dignity and justice." And he said, "We're not—I'd rather the
British continue to rule us than become—than to lose that." And, you
know, he established codes of conduct for the treatment of prisoners,
fair treatment of prisoners and humane treatment. And the Hessians
that he captured on Christmas Eve were so shocked by the good
treatment they received from the American captors that after two
weeks in prison, they agreed to walk unguarded all the way to POW
camps in western Pennsylvania, and not a single one escaped.During the Civil War, Lincoln's general suggested—made the suggestion
of torture, and he was so horrified by the idea, that he created a
committee to establish a standards—a report with standards for the
fair treatment and humane treatment of prisoners of war. And eighty
years later, that document became the Geneva Convention.During World War II, Eisenhower was asked about torturing Germans at
a time when Nazis were torturing our prisoners and POWs. And
Eisenhower said, "Americans don't do that." And he said—and during
World War II, German soldiers surrendered to American soldiers by the
thousands, because they had heard from their fathers, who fought in
World War I, "Always surrender to an American, because Americans
don't torture people."You know, a few week
To "majestic" - I am a big Kurt Vonnegut fan. I love everything he ever wrote. I was very disturbed reading about the historic and idyllic town of Dresden being firebombed. I am no fan of war.I think you got up on your high horse so fast that you didn't actually read the entire post. It was a quote from Robert Kennedy, Jr. He is making the point of how things are different under BUSH than they were BEFORE BUSH.
I am no fan of war.
But WAR is WAR, and torturing people who haven't even been charged with anything are two horses of different colors.
I'm truly sorry you missed the whole point.

QUESTION:
Should President Bush and Members of His Administration be Tried for War Crimes?
Senate probe blames top Bush officials for abuses
By ROY GUTMAN AND JONATHAN S. LANDAY
McClatchy Newspapers
WASHINGTON -- Top officials - including former Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and Air Force Gen. Richard Myers, the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff - were responsible for the use of "abusive" interrogation techniques on detainees at Guantanamo Bay, in Afghanistan and at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, a bipartisan Senate report concluded Thursday. The long-awaited Senate Armed Services Committee report bluntly refuted the Bush administration's repeated claims that the abuses, which helped fuel the Iraq insurgency and damaged America's reputation around the world, were the work of a few low-level "bad apples."
"Senior officials in the United States government solicited information on how to use aggressive techniques, redefined the law to create the appearance of their legality, and authorized their use against detainees," said the report's 19-page unclassified executive summary. "Those efforts damaged our ability to collect accurate intelligence that could save lives, strengthened the hand of our enemies, and compromised our moral authority."
"Attempts by senior officials to pass the buck to low-ranking soldiers while avoiding any responsibility for abuses are unconscionable," said Sen. Carl Levin, D-Mich., the panel's chairman, who released the executive summary with Sen. John McCain of Arizona, the committee's top Republican.
The report "details the inexcusable link between abusive interrogation techniques used by our enemies in violation of the Geneva Convention and interrogation policy for detainees in U.S. custody. These policies are wrong and must never be repeated," said McCain, a former prisoner of war in North Vietnam.
The 250-page classified report, which is undergoing a Pentagon declassification review, was the most comprehensive to date of a series of official investigations into the abuses of suspected terrorists who were detained after President George W. Bush launched his "global war on terror" after the Sept. 11 attacks.
The Senate report traces the abuses to a Feb. 7, 2002, Bush memo that declared that international law on the treatment of war prisoners found in the 1949 Geneva Convention didn't apply to al-Qaida or to the Taliban.
The report outlines how senior U.S. officials, including Rumsfeld, Myers and then-National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice shaped the policy decisions that led to the use of interrogation techniques that the administration insists were legal but that numerous legal authorities and some former military officers have denounced as torture and war crimes.
Detainee abuses led to attacks on U.S. troops in Iraq, according to testimony to the committee by a former Navy general counsel, Alberto Mora. "There are serving U.S. flag-rank officers who maintain that the first and second identifiable causes of U.S. combat deaths in Iraq - as judged by their effectiveness in recruiting insurgent fighters into combat - are, respectively, the symbols of Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo," he said.
It's not clear, however, if the report will lead to legal proceedings against any of the officials or military officers named or whether the incoming Obama administration will pursue allegations of possible crimes committed during President Bush's war on terror.
"We welcome this report," said Brooke Anderson, the Obama transition team's national security spokeswoman. "We will review these findings carefully. President-elect Obama has said that Americans do not engage in torture and that we must send a message to the world that America is a nation of laws and that we stand against torture."

QUESTION:
Voter fraud in this election? ACORN to blame or not? What do you think?
For over twenty-five years, Republicans have promoted the myth of voting fraud to argue for restrictive voting laws—but Bush's own Justice Department found virtually no organized voting fraud. Now McCain is attacking ACORN in order to justify a frenzy of lawsuits making it harder for Obama supporters to vote. Here's what he's not telling you:
The only fraud committed was against ACORN itself. ACORN hired 13,000 workers to register a remarkable 1.3 million new voters. And a few of them turned in registration forms with inaccurate and even made-up names to get credit for work they didn't do. ACORN fired them and turned them over to the authorities.
ACORN reported the fraudulent registration forms. In most states, ACORN is required by law to submit all forms collected whether they appear to be bogus or not—that way election officials, not partisan groups, can make the call. ACORN flags cards that may not be legitimate. And in many places, the charges of fraud only came up because ACORN was the one who flagged the cards!
This won't have any impact on the election. No one is allowed to vote unless they are properly registered. And there is no evidence of false registrations actually leading to organized voting fraud.
We can't let false charges of voting fraud distract us from the very real voter suppression campaign that is already well under way.
Republicans are looking for typos on voter registration forms, threatening to challenge homeowners facing foreclosure, and falsely warning that voters with outstanding traffic tickets may be arrested if they go to the polls.

a certain percentage of voter fraud and registration happens in every election- ACORN is required by law to turn in every registration that someone fills out-there are many "mickey mouse and Darth Vader" people who like to fill out bogus registrations-when ACORN receives these, they put the registrations into 3 piles- GOOD, they have been called and identified------Questionable , needing further verification------and Bad, the bogus ones----the bad ones don't get counted in--this happens in every election. it has nothing to do with Obama or ACORN being illegit-- if ACORN officials are doing this then they will find out and deal with the penalties

Dont you realise that some canadians HATE all americans for being so DUMB and not fighting back. They just stand there and act like sheep.
They have lost their rights - the right to free speech, the right to trial, the right to own guns. they lost everything and they do not complain. They are being controlled.
Sorry, but NOONE has the right to control me!!! NOONE
(not harper, not bush and not mccain)PS the world economy crisis was directly caused by the MORON of a president THEY ELECTED. MCCAIN will be just as bad - if not worse. He wants war for 10,000 years!!!!!

ANSWER:
Thank you for posting this. It's not the first time I've read it. I've also read the book and plan on seeing the movie. They are all heroes - both the ones that never made it back, and the ones that did.God bless all our veterans and military. We can never be grateful enough for their sacrifices.
